In this article, we'll walk you through the process of manually inputting your Vehicle's Identification Number into the Kayo app. Normally, on most newer vehicles (2008 and newer) the VIN will auto-populate into the Kayo device. However some older vehicles will require you to enter the VIN number manually.
The VIN number is used to identify the make and model of your vehicle. Vehicle check engine light codes may not be available, however, all other features will work as expected.
Entering Your VIN
To get started, simply scan your Kayo device as described in this article.
We recommend you take a trip or two after installing your Kayo device, just in case it can auto-populate your VIN. If that doesn't work, open the Kayo mobile app and navigate to your list of vehicles by clicking on the truck icon in the bottom left corner:
From there, for any vehicles that have not pulled VIN, you will see an option to manually input the VIN.
Simply follow the instructions on the screen to finish the connection process for your vehicle.
Please note, if the vehicle is not currently in motion at the time you input the VIN, it may take up to 4 hours to begin showing on the map. To speed this up, simply start the vehicle or take a quick trip.
